About Us
ATMOSFEAR is a three-piece brutal death metal band from Mumbai, India, that has been decimating the Indian underground since 2006. Over nearly two decades, the band has grown from raw, blood-soaked beginnings into one of the country's most respected extreme metal acts — known for their crushing heaviness, razor-sharp grooves, and relentless DIY ethos.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist Bruce McKoy, ATMOSFEAR emerged at a time when Indian death metal was still clawing its way into the light. The band’s early years were marked by chaotic club shows, self-funded recordings, and a fiery dedication to the craft — fueled by a deep love for death metal’s most uncompromising forms.
Initially a four-piece, the band stripped itself down to a leaner, more brutal three-piece lineup, refining their sound into a merciless fusion of old-school death metal grit, modern brutality, and groove-driven ferocity. In 2017, bassist Shawn Phulpagar joined the ranks, bringing a new depth to the band’s sonic weight, followed by the addition of drummer Anannya Patil in 2025, whose explosive technique and rhythmic precision completed the band’s current form.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 2017, was met with critical acclaim — praised for its relentless intensity, cavernous vocals, and tight, unrelenting riffwork. The release cemented ATMOSFEAR as a rising force in Indian metal and was followed by extensive national touring, sharing the stage with some of the country’s heaviest hitters and international support acts.
ATMOSFEAR’s music is not just an exercise in brutality — it's a calculated barrage of rhythm, atmosphere, and rage. Drawing influence from death metal’s darkest corners while injecting their own identity into every riff, every blast beat, and every growl, the band has crafted a sound that is both familiar and fiercely their own.
Now, in 2025, ATMOSFEAR prepares to unleash their highly anticipated sophomore full-length album — a refined, even more savage evolution of their sound. This new chapter promises deeper grooves, darker textures, and a rawer, more visceral edge — forged in blood, sweat, and nearly twenty years of underground warfare.
This is not trend-hopping. This is not nostalgia.
This is two decades of pure, unrelenting death metal.
